Banking and insurance agent
Helping people use financial services sensibly
What people in this work actually do
Explain accounts, loans, deposits and policies in language a customer understands, complete applications and documentation, follow up claims, and keep in touch with customers over years.
This may suit you if…
People trust you, you can explain something complicated simply, and you are willing to build a customer base patiently.
Income is often partly or wholly commission, so early months can be lean. There is real pressure to sell products that may not suit a customer, and resisting that pressure is the difference between a career and a bad reputation.
We show these because nobody else will.
What people get wrong about this
That it is only a city job. Rural financial inclusion has created significant demand for agents who are trusted locally and speak the local language.
What this looks like in a smaller town
Business correspondent and banking-agent roles operate in villages without a bank branch, and many agents build this into a full-time local business.
Ways into this work
There is almost always more than one route, and the cheapest is often perfectly respected.
